About Scott:

I create innovative tech solutions and business models and am accountable for social impact and accruing relationship capital for Microsoft. I build cross-sector partnerships that deliver value to Microsoft as well as to both the tech industry and society as a whole.

I lead a new initiative in Microsoft Philanthropies to identify and jointly invest in social impact projects with Microsoft’s largest customers and partners.

In my 20 years at Microsoft, I have always been on the leading edge of the company's transformation initiatives. When I first joined, I helped figure out how to make our technologies relevant to internet companies. My next roles focused on architecting our solutions so they could scale to the world's largest enterprises. Most recently, I was doing the same thing, but this time I'm helping Microsoft understand cities. Now, I'm working to transform philanthropy.

In my role, I think a lot about AI and the future of work; the privacy / security / surveillance spectrum; how to broaden economic growth and combat growing inequality; and what is the optimal relationship between tech and society.

I am a senior, results-oriented leader with solid business acumen, deep technical expertise who delivers social impact.

• I thrive in ambiguous situations and am able to build consensus and lead teams through transition. • I have a keen ability to foster productive cross-functional and cross-organizational relationships. • I'm a recognized expert with over 50 articles for MSPress, MSDN, and Ziff-Davis; a regular speaker at conferences; and serve on several national boards.
