About Wood Chat

The problem we're solving:

The Amazon faces illegal logging due to lack of accessible tools for identifying wood species and verifying legal origin. This weakens supply chains and threatens biodiversity. At the same time, communities and professionals lack environmental education resources adapted to local realities, limiting awareness and engagement in sustainable practices.

Our solution:

Wood Chat combines AI-powered wood identification with environmental education via WhatsApp. Our solution helps verify the legality of Amazonian timber through image analysis and engages communities with accessible, forest-focused content, promoting sustainable practices and strengthening traceable supply chains.

Our differentiator:

Wood Chat uniquely integrates AI-based wood identification with environmental education in a single platform. Unlike others, we offer a conversational assistant via WhatsApp and a vision system focused on Amazonian biodiversity. Our approach is inclusive, accessible, and tailored to the realities of the forest, empowering both technical users and local communities.

Our biggest achievement:

Winning the WhatsApp for Amazon Challenge by Meta, ITS Rio, and Turn.io, with a R$250k grant and 1 million monthly messages, recognizing our AI as a key tool for sustainable forest management. We also represented Brazil at Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon, gaining global visibility through GloboNews, UOL, and Euronews.
