About Greenitio

The problem we're solving:

There are polymeric non-biodegradable ingredients in the products we use everyday. Industries such as cosmetics, personal care, home care, food, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, intentionally add polymeric ingredients to products to improve performance, shelf-life and appearance. There is significant increase in demand for alternatives but polymer ingredient substitutes are scarce, hindering consumer companies' green initiatives and threatening potential financial losses if not addressed promptly.

Our solution:

Greenitio designs and synthesizes sustainable functional ingredients/ excipients by combining green chemistry and computer simulation. The start-up up-cycles/ transforms natural feedstock (plants & bio-wastes) into high-performance materials using a proprietary aqueous-based green process. Greenitio uses AI and computational simulation to design materials that mimic properties of their non-renewable counterparts, whilst not being limited by what nature can produce.

Our differentiator:

Greenitio is transforming the industry with its AI-driven platform technology to produce functional biopolymers from abundant natural resources as a sustainable alternative to petrochemical polymers, all while preserving their inherent bioactivity and functions.

Although natural biopolymers like plant proteins and polysaccharides can replace certain synthetic polymers, there's a scarcity of oil-soluble or water-resistant options that meet the required specifications. Few candidates derived from bio-based monomers or chemical processes using natural small molecules fulfil these criteria, but their production often compromises bioactivity and biodegradability.

In traditional chemistry, functionalizing biomacromolecules into useful biopolymers has been a complex challenge, often leading to low yields and high costs when balancing performance and bioactivity. However, Greenitio's innovative technology overcomes these hurdles by implementing a biogenic process. This groundbreaking approach converts low-value, underperforming biomacromolecules into high-value, high-performance functional biopolymers sustainably and affordably—previously deemed unattainable.

Remarkably, Greenitio's methodology not only preserves but enhances the natural bioactivity of biomacromolecules, unlocking the boundless potential for innovation and possibilities. Our biopolymers offer superior bioactivity and health benefits that surpass synthetic alternatives. Competing technologies only prioritize performance. We proudly offer a rare combination of performance and bioactivity at an affordable price.

Our biggest achievement:

Greenitio works closely with 12 renowned multinational brands in the cosmetic and personal care industry, with half of them having an average annual revenue of $10 billion or more. We are actively involved in conducting various paid trials and projects.

Our achievements include winning the Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) in 2021, where we partnered with L'Oreal and received a cash prize. In the 2022 SOIC challenge, we have been recognized as an innovative startup among more than 550 startups, as organized by Entreprise Singapore and nominated by Swisse.

Furthermore, we are also engaging with established specialty chemicals and polymer manufacturers such as BASF and Dow Chemicals for trial purposes.
