About BIOINFOOD
The problem we're solving:
Low performance in industrial fermentation of sugarcane ethanol.
For reference, raw material conversion to ethanol exceeds 93-95% in corn ethanol plants or large breweries, while the average in sugarcane ethanol production is around 85%. Since raw materials account for up to 70% of operational costs, any reduction in fermentation efficiency has a significant economic impact. Generally, at least a million dollars is lost for every 1% of inefficiency –and that’s only in the fermentation stage.
Our solution:
YFuel-SE A proprietary technology that combines high-performance industrial yeasts with process innovations.
It includes: – Large-scale supply of yeast strains developed for enhanced robustness and ethanol yield; – Optimized startup and fermentation maintenance throughout the season, through a combined re-inoculation and yeast recycling strategy.
Impact: More ethanol, no process changes or CAPEX. Each 1% gain in efficiency adds over one million dollars in revenue.
Our differentiator:
YFuel-SE – Fully compatible and complementary with current operations; – No CAPEX investment required; – Low implementation cost; – Increased revenue quickly covers the implementation cost; payback expected within the third or fourth month of the operational season.
BIOINFOOD – Custom development and industrial-scale production capabilities for yeast strains; – Scalable, asset-light model for yeast supply; – Co-development model, with agility and flexibility in decision-making.
Our biggest achievement:
YFuel-SE – High-performance industrial yeasts: validated under operational conditions —ready for scale-up and implementation. – Process innovations: key steps demonstrated at pilot scale (prototype validated), including 1,000 L batch fermentations using industrial strains and sugarcane molasses –studies were conducted at the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Biotechnology (Ettore Zanini, SP).
